## How it works

### Pick a song

Any audio file you have, or a beat from the Library. DriftEdit reads its tempo, bars, sections and drop.

### Pick a style and a length

30 to 60 seconds, from the drop or from the start, vertical by default.

### Make the edit

Your clips and photos are read for sharpness, motion and where the subject is, and the best moments go where the music hits.

### Change anything

Every shot is a normal clip. Another take reshuffles; Remake keeps every shot you touched and rebuilds the rest around it.

## Seven styles

Each lane is what that style cuts over four bars of a drop, made by the same director the editor runs.

### Clean

Cuts on bars, whole moves

Cuts on the bar with straight cuts and no effects, so the footage carries it.

### Cinematic

Long holds, slow push-ins

Long shots on the bar, slowed in calm passages, with dissolves and a film grade.

### Smooth

Flowing transitions, no hard cuts

Every cut on the bar flows into the next shot through a dissolve, a zoom, a blur or a slide.

### Hype

Cuts on kicks, punch on the drop

Cuts on the kicks of the drop, with a zoom on every one, flashes on new sections and whip pans.

### Velocity

Speed ramps into every hit

Speeds up in the drops and slows down between them, with zoom transitions and a vivid grade.

### Chaos

Shakes and flashes on every kick

Cuts on every kick, with glitches, colour splits, shake and strobe.

### Reverse

Footage that plays back on the beat

Cuts on the kicks, with shots that play backwards, rewinds on the beat and a rewind into the drop.

## What it reads in the song

### Every kick, at its attack

Cuts land on the kick itself, not on the grid the tempo implies, and a bar where the music has no kick still gets its cut.

### Sections and the drop

Intro, build, drop, break and outro: calm parts hold a bar and soften their cuts, the drop gets the strongest footage.

### Speed, pulses and rewinds

Zoom pulses on every kick of a drop, speed changes into the hits, footage that plays back on the beat, by style.

## When it needs a hand

### When the beat is off

Some songs start with a pickup or read at half or double time. The tempo and bar one are shown in the Auto panel, and a tap corrects either before you make the edit.

### On your device

The song and the footage are read in the browser tab, and the reading is kept with the file, so a second edit from the same song starts at once.
